Manufacturing & Processing of Ti-6Al-4V (Titanium Grade 5) Wire

Our Ti-6Al-4V (Titanium Grade 5) Wire undergoes a precise manufacturing process to ensure consistent quality and performance.

1. Alloy Production

High-purity titanium sponge is combined with aluminum and vanadium master alloys in precise proportions. The mixture is pressed into electrodes and vacuum arc melted multiple times to ensure chemical homogeneity.

2. Billet Preparation

The titanium alloy ingot is processed into cylindrical billets through hot forging and machining operations, ensuring proper grain structure and mechanical properties.

3. Wire Drawing

Billet is heated and drawn through a series of tungsten carbide dies of decreasing diameter. Each drawing step reduces the wire diameter while increasing its strength through work hardening.

4. Annealing & Heat Treatment

Intermediate and final annealing processes are performed to relieve residual stresses and achieve the desired balance of strength and ductility. Solution treatment and aging may be used for maximum strength.

5. Surface Treatment & Spooling

The finished wire undergoes surface cleaning and treatment to remove contaminants and improve corrosion resistance. It is then precisely wound onto spools of various sizes according to customer specifications.

Wire Processing Guidelines of Ti-6Al-4V (Titanium Grade 5) Wire

Ti-6Al-4V (Titanium Grade 5) Wire can be processed using various methods, but requires special considerations due to the material's unique properties:
